Fairfield Union Land Lab (F.U.L.L.)

Mission Statement and History

Land Lab Bench Project

As part of the F.U.L.L. committee's commitment to improving the outdoor learning environment, park-like benches are being added to the land lab grounds.  To help defray the cost of the benches, Fairfield Union patrons can purchase a commemorative brass plaque that will be placed on one of the wooden benches.  The cost of each plaque will be $100.  F.U.L.L. Outdoor Learning Environment

Fairfield Union, in a partnership with the Fairfield County ESC, has been awarded a Straight A Fund Grant to improve and expand our outdoor learning environments. A team of teachers are working with professionals in the area of outdoor education to revitalize the areas we already have and to build additional areas for educational purposes.

Coupled with that grant opportunity, several local individuals and organizations have partnered with the district to work on various projects around the FUHS and RMS site. These partners have volunteered their time and expertise to restore and improve our site for future Falcons.

The plan includes the draining and dredging of the existing pond in the Land Lab, restoration of the historic covered bridge, redefinition of current trails and construction of a new perimeter trail, and construction of a new shelter house. In addition to these projects there are many smaller scale projects including tree identification, birdhouses and bird feeders throughout the site, trail cams linked into our internal network to be utilized by all Fairfield Union students, a weather station and various other educational opportunities for our students, staff and
community.

Our goal is to revitalize and restore the outdoor learning environments we currently have and develop additional site enhancements to encourage outdoor learning opportunities for our next generation of Fairfield Union learners.
