In tournament action last evening the Falcons took down the number one seed Unioto Sherman Tanks in dramatic fashion 8-3. From the first inning on the Falcons were the aggressors, scoring in the first inning after Brady Andrews was hit by a pitch, pinch runner Braxton Rowles went to 3b on a single by Garrett Dilcher, Rowles scored two pitches later on a ball that got away from the catcher.
In the third inning Angelo Galella singles to start the inning, moves to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ashton Waldrop then scores on another passed ball by the catcher. Aiden McCafferty reaches on an error and comes home on another Dilcher single to make it 3-0.
The Falcons were able to manufacture 3 runs in the 6th including singles by Brady Andrews, Dilcher, Ben Barringers squeeze bunt, Kyle Wolfe sacrifice fly and Chase Harmon sacrifice bunt.
In the 7th inning the Falcons got 2 runs on RBI singles by Chase Harmon and Kyle Wolfe.
Jacob Forson was excellent on the mound, pitching all 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs with 2 earned. He struck out 7 and walked 2.
The Falcons take on Washington Courthouse on Monday, May 20, at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at Ohio University's Wren Stadium, 140 S. Shafer St., Athens.
