Hannah Penrose is one of the new ag teachers at the program this year. She graduated from Van Buren High School and grew up in Findlay, Ohio. She lived on a small family farm raising chickens, turkeys, and dairy goats. She also attended Wilmington College and received a degree in Agricultural Education and Animal Science in December of 2022. During high school she was active in FFA, Jr. Fair Board, 4-H, and Camp Counselor. This is her first year teaching and very excited for her freshman classes!Also joining Fairfield Union in the Agriculture department is Dakota Brame. Dakota graduated form The Ohio State University in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Agri-science Education. He grew up in southern Perry county on his family farm growing crops and raising beef cattle. He was active in the FFA at New Lexington high school through out all 4 years of high school as well as the Jr. Fair board for Perry County from when his age allowed it through 2017 when he graduated high school. He is now an active member of the New Lex FFA Alumni and looks forward to working all the students in the coming year.

The Bremen Food Pantry provided food carry out boxes to 55 families on Saturday August 5th. From noon till 2pm the Food Pantry provided school supplies to 52 school age Fairfield Union students. Four current and future FFA members and members of the Kuntry Kidz 4-H Club helped by carrying food boxes to the autos. Thank You goes out to all who made this another successful Food Pantry Give Away Saturday.

Students, fellow teachers and other supporters can nominate their favorite agricultural teachers and summarize what makes him or her the best in the state. With over 500 nominations for over 120 teachers in Ohio, Judd Baker, agricultural educator at Fairfield Union High School, was selected as a top 10 recipient.Judd Baker has been teaching at Fairfield Union High School for 18 years and has been an agricultural educator for 7 years. Judd teaches courses in natural resources and forestry ecosystems where he encourages students to go outside to learn. Students utilize the F.U.L.L (Fairfield Union Land Lab) to study dendrology, timber cruising, tree tapping for maple syrup production, and chainsaw safety. Students also help to maintain the community garden at the high school. In terms of outreach, Judd works with numerous local organizations and businesses to provide help in building structures and materials. Some of the many organizations include Millersport Lions Club, Forest Rose School, and Lancaster Sheriff's Department. Outside of the classroom Judd leads the forestry judging team, the wildlife management team, and the outdoor power (small engines) team. In 2019, Judd received his Honorary State Degree for his hard work and dedication to the FFA organization. Judd will be recognized again with the other top 10 recipients at the 95th Ohio State FFA Convention in Columbus, OH on May 4-5, 2023.The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is composed of 850,823 members belonging to one of 8,995 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Junior and Senior FFA students at Fairfield Union attended an industry tour at Westerman's Inc. on Wednesday November 30, 2022. This industry tour provided students a first hand look at the fabrication process. A special thanks to Westerman's Inc, Fairfield 33 alliance, and Fairfield ESC for working with our students.
